GSLC Philosophy and use of the Abeka Curriculum for Pre-K and Transition Students

Abeka is an academic curriculum, it is an educational foundation that covers phonics, reading, language development, math, writing, reading and readiness skills.  Science, history, poetry and music are also part of the curriculum.  The framework empowers teachers to focus students’ attention on the material they need to learn—in a context and sequence that will help them learn it best. As students begin to grasp what’s being taught, newly acquired concepts and skills are fortified time and again using a method often referred to as spiral learning. Students’ mastery of subject matter is strengthened because of the comprehensive design of the Abeka curriculum. Material taught in one subject is reinforced in other subjects. At every step of the way, students learn, apply, and master new concepts and skills.  Our goal is that GSLC students are able to demonstrate above average kindergarten knowledge and performance.

Pre-K Fours

The Pre-K Fours class is a academic preparedness class that uses the Abeka K4 four year old curriculum.

Advanced Fours and Transition Class

This is an advanced Pre-K preparedness class using the Abeka K5 Kindergarten curriculum.  This class is recommended as Transition class for the child that may need one more year of preschool before entering Kindergarten.
